A historic city under the active volcano of Vesuvius that was buried by an eruption around 79 A.D.. These ruins provide a glimpse into the ancient life of humans back then.
On the way there we were able to see some great views from the coast.

Overlooking the beautiful gulf of Naples, volcano out in the sea
When we finally got to Pompeii you can notice right away how amazing this city must have been in it’s glory. The ruins still intact provide a glimpse into the world that existed back then.

A beautiful courtyard in a home in Pompeii. With a room on each side of the courtyard having an open space in the middle provides a private open area to unwind and relax.

These streets had different levels of elevation and stones. This allowed for water to flow correctly without pooling. This “water system” kept the roads clear and avoided flooding.

On the outside of the city this statue seems to be protecting this ancient city.

The interior of these large homes had pretty paintings on the ceilings. This shows just how much they appreciated art, to include it in their homes.

These structures passed the test of time, still standing after all the centuries that have passed.
