How I Found Out About Robinhood

Robinhood when it first came to my attention somewhere around 2018, I didn’t think too much of it. It was marketed as a commission free stock trading platform. When I thought free, I figured it may just be a not so true marketing statement, or at the very least not as good or secure as other brokerages.

At the time Ally (my previous main trading platform), was offering the cheapest commissions at 5 USD a transaction, and was relatively easy to use and secure.

When the topic came up about Robinhood, a classmate was using it and recommended it for the ease of use and modern UI. He went ahead and sent me a referral link and I was able open an account and get a free stock!

Right away I saw the benefit of an easy to use interface (dedicated to mobile). At the time being a leader in commission free trades I was able to more easily be an active trader making decisions through my phone. I was hooked, and since then they have only gotten more secure, more stable, and gotten more features.
